Very glad to get away from the awful Sarria! We are now on busier tracks as we pick up folk who have just started. Lots of Spanish school children on school outings who are noisy but very polite unlike some of the adults from other countries. Not much of a day for photos but this shows the 100k to go marker.
We headed to Portomarin which made me feel very dad because the last time I walked this path, it was with Siobhan. If her passing has taught me anything, it's never try and predict the future because it has a habit of coming back to bite you. I felt quite low as we walked across the bridge. The daily routine of walking for 6+ hours is beginning to hurt all my joints. Pleased to say my feet are fine, touch wood.
However, when we got into town, it was fiesta day blue sky appeared and a band was playing. This cheered me up as it showed what a Spanish town is all about and blew away all the negative energy from the concrete jungle that is Sarria. Sir John Betjeman disliked Slough, so he wrote "Come gentle bombs and fall on Slough". I'm sure he would have felt the same about Sarria!
