Let me tell you about the Camino. Sometimes it sucks!
We've just done the most physically and mentally taxing stage so far. 28k but the distance wasn't a problem. We hiked up about 200m height to the top and enjoyed beautiful early morning views over the Cantabrian mountains. No problem we thought and wondered why it was classified as triple red (most difficult) as the rest was downhill. Well, downhill tracks were very steep and like a rock face with loose stones! Every step was a potential fall with possible severe injury. Add to that the problem of any rescue. We progressed very slowly and trying not to fall down into the valley below. When we finished and finally got down to the bottom for lunch, we still had to hike 8k in the burning sun of 31degrees.
At the top, I left a stone from the bottom at the Iron Cross for Siobhan darling. The idea is that it is meant to lighten your load. I don't think my load will ever be lightened!
