I am raising funds in loving memory of my wife Siobhan who died of ovarian cancer on February 21 2024. She was 58 years old. She had been ill for less than 1 year, and despite surgery and chemotherapy, it was not possible to save her life. We had been together for 30 years and had just started our retirement on the Costa del Sol. Siobhan had spent her working life helping others, firstly as an operating department sister and then as a secondary school teacher.
Last year, my friend John and I walked the Camino de Santiago (french way) from St Jean Pied de Port in France 780 kilometres to Santiago de Compostela and then on to Fisterra on the Atlantic Coast. in north west Spain going across the Pyrennes. We raised 6000 euro for our charities, Ovacome and Cruse.
This year, in memory of the one year anniversary of her pasising in the Cudeca Hospice in Benalmadena Spain, my friends John, Suzie, and I have decided to take on a tough physical challenge: walking the Camino de San Salvador (León to Oviedo) and the Camino Primitivo (Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela)—a 440 km journey across the mountains of northern Spain in 20 days. We are starting 26.5.25
We are dedicating this walk to raising funds for Cudeca , in gratitude for the loving care Siobhan received during the last weeks of her life—something we will always be deeply thankful for, especially as they took on Siobhan’s care even though we didn’t live in their catchment area. We would like to repay the cost of her stay, about 6000 euro.
If you would like to support us in this special cause, any contribution would be grateful.
. Many thanks
